Royal surprise for newborns at Southampton hospital
The Princess Royal opened Princess Anne Hospital more than 40 years ago

There was a surprise royal visit for newborns on Friday as Princess Anne marked 42 years since opening Princess Anne Hospital in Southampton.
Princess Anne Hospital opened its doors on 28 March 1981.
Amy Hartnell and David Austin from Southampton, along with baby Albert George, born on Thursday, met the Princess Royal during her tour.
Parents Siobhan and Joe Biles from Southampton were also thrilled to introduce their new baby boy, Cody Harlo Joey Biles, born on Wednesday.
They lost their second child last year at seven months old to sudden infant death syndrome and have named Cody after his brother, Harlo Joey, in his memory.
Mum Siobhan described the visit as "emotional but very special after a difficult year".
The Princess Royal also stopped to speak with long serving midwives as well as those newly qualified to the role.
Princess Anne planted a tree outside the hospital on Coxford Road to commemorate her visit.
The Princess Royal also visited Southampton's Civic Centre to officially recognise the city's new Lord Mayor status.
Southampton was the only city in England and Wales to be awarded Lord Mayor status as part of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Civic Honours Competition in 2022.
Lord Mayor of Southampton, councillor Jacqui Rayment, said: "Being awarded our Letters Patent in recognition of the city’s Lord Mayor status and being the first person to serve as Lord Mayor of our great city is an honour and a privilege.
Princess Anne also planted a tree in Andrews Park.
