A roof has collapsed following a fire in an end-of-terrace house in Southampton.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire Service were called to reports of a fire in the loft of a property on Bitterne Road West at 3:55pm on Saturday.

Eight engines and an aerial ladder helped to put the flames out.

The roof of the property collapsed in the fire, which also affected two adjoining properties.

All residents were safely evacuated, with no injuries reported.

Roads were closed whilst crews dealt with the fire - these roads have since reopened.

The service say fire safety advice is being provided to local residents.
