Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), the distribution network operator for central southern England, saw a spike in electricity demand the equivalent of making over 320,000 cups of tea during halftime of England vs Denmark.

• Halftime of England vs Denmark saw an increase of 102MVA from 2957 to 3059MVA.

• That’s the equivalent of boiling 40,800 full kettles, or making 326,400 cups of tea.

• …or using 68,000 hairdryers.

SSEN says it invests in its electricity network to ensure its critical infrastructure remains resilient during unusual and special events.
