£400,000 of upgrades completed at Poole leisure centres
BCP Council's been carrying out refurbs, after taking over the sites
£400,000 worth of improvements have been made across three leisure centres in Poole, within three months of them being taken over by BCP Council.
The authority's been carrying out refurbishments at Ashdown, Rossmore and the Dolphin leisure centres since gaining control in October 2024.
That includes modernising the existing gyms and fitness studios with new equipment, refreshed interiors, resurfaced floors, and enhanced workout spaces.
Further work will see the airflow systems upgraded at each of the sites, with the aim of reducing running costs.
Cllr Richard Herrett, Portfolio Holder for Destination, Leisure, and Commercial Operations at BCP Council, said:
“I am delighted that the upgrades to our leisure centres have been completed - supporting our mission of making lifelong active living accessible and affordable to our residents.
“Bringing the sites into council-led management ensures residents can access more high quality facilities and demonstrates how locally managed services can meet community needs.
“I am looking forward to seeing the benefits that these refurbished centres will bring to the local community.
“The BCP Leisure management model includes a capital repayment investment plan across the three facilities, which will improve the quality of services on offer for our residents.”
Improvements have been made to the Two Riversmeet swimming pool in Christchurch, which is also run by BCP Leisure.
A new protective resin coating's been installed and filtration systems fully refurbished.
The organisation has responsibility for the Kings Park Leisure and Learning Centre in Bournemouth too.
