Police release image of potential witness following serious assault in Fair Oak

The victim, a man in his 40s, was punched several times causing injuries to his face

Police have released a picture of a potential witness to a serious assault in Fair Oak.

The incident occurred just outside the Co-op on Sandy Lane between 9pm and 9.15pm on Tuesday 30 April.

During the incident, the victim - a man in his 40s - had just left the Co-op when he was approached by an unknown man.

The victim then reported being punched several times, causing ABH-level injuries, including bruising to his face and a chipped tooth.

A spokesperson from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: "We know that there were other people in the area at the time of the incident and we are releasing this image of a man who was in the shop at the time and tried to intervene.

"If you are the person in this image, or you know who he is, please call 101 and quote incident number 44240179533."
