Police find owner of severed finger in Southampton

A man was located after going to hospital for treatment

Police have traced the owner of a severed finger after it was found outside a block of flats in Southampton.

Officers say it was found in a parking area in Lower Banister Street on Friday night behind a block of flats that fronts onto Bedford Place.

The man is believed to have lost the finger in an accident while trying to climb a fence after getting trapped in a courtyard area.

He wandered off after being given a towel by a resident, according to a Hampshire Police spokesperson.

The 28-year-old was found after seeking medical assistance.

He is currently receiving treatment for the injury at a hospital in Salisbury.
