Police cordons following suspected firearms incident in Bournemouth

Officers say they'd had reports of an altercation involving two men

Police cordons have been set up in Bourmemouth following an incident reported to police just before midday today (Tuesday 22nd April).

Officers were called to an altercation involving two men in St Swithun's Road, near to the junction with Frances Road.

It was reported one of the men had been in possession of a suspected firearm.

Knyveton Road has also been closed off for the time being.

Police tell us it's thought both individuals have left the scene and there are no reported injuries.

Dorset Police have given us a statement:

"Officers are carrying out extensive searches and enquiries in the vicinity to locate those involved and establish the circumstances of the incident.

"A cordon has been put in place as these enquiries are carried out and we would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding as we respond to this matter."
