Police say they are treating the death of a festival-goer after attending the Boomtown Festival as 'unexpected'.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called to reports of a "medical incident" at the site on the Matterley Estate, Winchester, between 8pm and 9pm on Saturday.

A man in his 20s was taken to Royal Hampshire County Hospital where he was pronounced in the early hours of Sunday.

Police say his next of kin have been informed, and a file is being prepared for the Coroner.

A spokesperson for the Boomtown Festival said:

"With sadness we confirm a man in his 20s died on the evening of Saturday 10th August after attending Boomtown.

"Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all those who knew him.

"We are supporting the police with their enquiries, and with respect for his family, no further comment will be made."
