Part of a sea wall in Ventnor has been closed off for safety reasons.

Isle of Wight Council says a large void and cracking has appeared in the concrete defences following recent stormy weather.

We're told it's a precautionary measure following a site inspection just beyond Ventnor Skatepark.

Natasha Dix, the council's strategic manager for environment, said: "Following our inspection this morning, we believe it is not safe for people to be walking on this section of the wall until we have a clear idea of the extent of the damage.

"The area will be monitored daily, and a full engineering inspection will take place when it is safe to do so."
