New flood defences to protect homes and businesses
Relief for homeowners hit by flooding eight years ago
More than 100 homes and businesses in Romsey will be protected from flooding as new defences are officially opened.
The £9.5m project was devised after properties were swamped with water from the River Test in the winter of 2013/14.
As well as reducing flooding, the Environment Agency said environmental benefits include 150 metres of new water vole habitat.
The river environment has also been improved with the management of vegetation and an improve structure that controls water flow in a barge canal.
