Man seriously injured in suspected Eastleigh hit-and-run

He was hit by a car late on Saturday night

A pedestrian has been seriously injured during a suspected hit and run incident in Eastleigh.

The victim, in his 30s, was struck by a silver Ford Fiesta on Shakespeare Road at around 11.30pm on Saturday (August 10th).

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious head injuries.

Police say the vehicle involved failed to stop at the scene, but was later stopped in Nutbeem Road.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and drink driving.

The road was closed for 11 hours following this incident but has since been re-opened.
