Man in serious condition after collision with car on the Isle of Wight

Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses

A man in his 70's remans in a serious but stable condition in hospital after being involved in a collision with a car on the Isle of Wight.

Emergency services were called to St James Street in Newport at around 2.19pm on Thursday afternoon to an accident involving a pedestrian and a white Vauxhall Corsa.

A police spokesperson said:

"The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

"As part of our ongoing enquiries into this incident we would like to hear from anyone with any information who has not yet spoken to police.

"The collision took place close to McDonald’s on St James Street. Were you in the area at the time and did you see what happened?

"Perhaps you were driving through and have dash cam footage that captured the incident?"
