A man has died and another has suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash on the A27 Chichester bypass late on Wednesday night (February 10th).

Officers were called to the eastbound stretch between Emsworth and Fishbourne at 11.40pm after a black Volkswagen Golf left the road.

They were joined by members of the South East Coast Ambulance Service, while West Sussex Fire and Rescue sent teams from the city and from Worthing.

The driver, a 25-year-old man from Havant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger, who was 19 and also from Havant, suffered life-threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital for treatment.

A 20-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, both from Havant, have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving

Police are appealing for witnesses and are particularly interested to hear from anyone with dash cam footage of the collision or the Golf being driven prior to the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Westdown.
