Man killed in collision with van in Bognor

Police have made an arrest following the collision on Saturday (January 7th)

A man has died after being hit by a van in Bognor.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Felpham Way at just after 5.45pm on Saturday (January 7th).

A 59-year-old man from Bognor was pronounced dead at the scene, despite receiving treatment at the scene from paramedics.

Sussex Police has said the victim's next-of-kin have been told and will be supported from specially trained officers. The coroner has also been informed.

A 26-year-old man from Bognor has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving when under the influence of drink or drugs.

He remained in custody as of Sunday morning.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision and ask that any relevant information or footage is reported to Sussex Police by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk, quoting Operation Spring.
