A man's been jailed for GBH and sexual assaults against a fellow inmate at Winchester Prison.

29 year old Robert Reynolds poured boiling water over another man, before beating and raping him.

He's been found guilty of GBH with intent, two counts of rape and one of sexual assault, during a trial at Salisbury Crown Court and now been sentenced to a further 12 years behind bars at HMP Bullingdon.

The attack happened in July 2021 when Reynolds and the victim were serving sentences at HMP Winchester.

The man in his 20 at the time, suffered burns to his back and face in the incident, needing specialist hospital treatment - he later disclosed the sexual offences to police.

Detective Sergeant Harry Wilson said:

“This was a horrific attack on a vulnerable man in a prison.

“While the victim has since left prison, he continues to deal with the physical and mental impact of what happened to him.

“This was a difficult and long investigation and I hope this shows that we will work closely with the prison to investigate any criminal offences that occur there.”
