Man in critical condition following assault in Portsmouth

He was punched and kicked in the head late on Saturday night (February 8th)

Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage following an assault in Portsmouth which left a man seriously injured.

The victim, in his 40s, was reportedly punched and kicked in the head during the attack in Fratton Road, which happened between 10pm and 11pm last Saturday (February 8th).

He remained in a critical, but stable, condition in hospital as of Thursday.

Officers are continuing to investigate the incident and have appealed to hear from anyone who was in the area of the Maya Delicatessen (Food Plus), Betfred and Euro Mini Market on Fratton Road at the time of the assault.

They have also issued a call for anyone with mobile phone, doorbell camera, dashcam or CCTV of the incident to come forward.

The person they’d like to speak to in connection with the incident is described as;

• White

• Aged between 25 and 30 years

• Balding

• Wearing dark clothing and a beanie hat
