Man dies from injuries sustained in Southampton assault

A man remains in custody on suspicion of grievous bodily harm

A man who sustained serious injuries in an assault in Southampton has died in hospital.

44-year-old Fuzel Miah, from the city, was taken to hospital after being attacked in Kent Street in Northam last Tuesday (May 14th).

Police and South Central Ambulance were called to the scene at just after 8pm that day.

35-year-old Ashley James Lear, of Kent Street, has been charged with section 20 grievous bodily harm.

He has been remanded in custody ahead of his next hearing at Southampton Crown Court on June 24th.
