Man arrested over 'sudden death' of 'vulnerable' woman

A man has been arrested by police investigating the sudden death of a woman on the Isle of Wight.

The 47-year-old is being questioned on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a vulnerable adult.

A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said: "We were called at 10:21am on Monday to Chestnut Close in Ventnor following the sudden death of a 57 year-old woman.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the death.

"As part of our enquiries a 47 year-old man from Ventnor has been arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a vulnerable adult.

"He remains in custody at this time."
