A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a man on board a cruise ship that left Southampton on Saturday evening.

MSC Virtuosa was travelling to Bruges when police say an isolated altercation broke out.

A man in his sixties died.

A 57-year-old man from Exeter remains in custody.

Hampshire Constabulary want to hear from any witnesses on board who saw what happened.

The ship is in Southampton after returning from Bruges yesterday.

A spokesperson for MSC Cruises said: " Following an incident on board our ship, the relevant authorities were contacted, and we are cooperating fully with their investigations.

"We are providing full support to those impacted and thoughts are with the family and friends at this difficult time."
