Man, 87, arrested on suspicion of murder over death of elderly woman

An 87-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of an 82-year-old woman in Waterlooville.

Police and ambulance crews were called to a bungalow in Rosemary Way , a quiet residential road at 2.25am on Monday.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene

Police said her family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A spokesperson from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: "We are continuing to establish the circumstances leading to her death.

"Members of the local neighbourhood policing team will remain in the area while enquiries continue.

"Please speak with one of our uniformed officers if you have any concerns."
