A recovery operation is underway in Southampton Water after a large container ship reportedly broke down.

The 400-metre long MOL Treasure is surrounded by four tug boats between Fawley refinery and Hamble point.

A live feed of the tugs holding the ship is being shown on the Solent Ships YouTube channel:

A spokesperson from the Port of Southampton said: "ABP Southampton is assisting the MOL Treasure as it investigates an operational issue.

"Our assistance has included despatching four tugs to ensure that the vessel is held in a position of safety.

"We continue to liaise closely with the MOL Treasure as it carries out checks.

"Our port activity is continuing largely as normal while these investigations take place and safety of course remains our paramount focus."
