Hampshire pub wants to see "unfair" taxes decreased this year
It comes as hospitality businesses see increasing costs
A Hampshire pub's telling us they want to see tax decreased this year to help the hospitality industry.
It comes after the budget saw tax increases for businesses, which they say are affecting their staff costs, too.
Julia Meager's the Head Chef at The Horse and Jockey pub in Curbridge.
She said: "It's very unfair and it's not encouraging people to want to go out and spend money because they're too worried about spending money.
"In fairness, I'm exactly the same.
"Can I afford to do this? Can I afford to do that?
"We used to love going out to eat and now we're thinking 'shall we wait for next week?'
"It's a hard industry at the moment.
"We've had to increase our prices slightly, but we're trying to keep it fair for the customer, but where do you start and where do you stop?
"It's been hard on the girls.
"I think that's across the board.
"I think everywhere's suffering now."
A Government spokesperson said: “We’re protecting pubs with the Budget’s £4.3 billion support package.
"Without this support, pubs would face a 45% increase in the bills they pay next year.
"This is on top of efforts to ease licensing, maintaining our cut to alcohol duty on draught pints and capping corporation tax."
