Hampshire Police say extra resources are ready to deal with illegal poaching
Reports suggest a large gathering is due to take place
Hampshire Police say they're ready to deal with a suspected illegal poaching and hare coursing event this weekend.
Although its reportedly due to take place in North Dorset the force think it could cross over into Hampshire, including the New Forest.
Police say they have extra resources ready to be deployed.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said:
"Officers have been liaising with our fellow colleagues in our neighbouring forces as our intelligence suggests that activity related to this event could cross into Hampshire, including the New Forest or Test Valley areas.
"We would like to reassure members of the local community that we have extra resources ready to be deployed in the event of reports being received.
"We would ask farmers and agricultural workers in our rural communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicious incidents to us via 101 or via the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary website."
