New treatment for cardiac patients arrives at Bournemouth Hospital
A less invasive and risky procedure has been introduced for people with atrial fibrillation.
The Royal Bournemouth Hospital's become the first outside London to bring in a new treatment for cardiac patients.
Technology means doctors can help people with atrial fibrillation by using electrical pulses to the heart, instead of a tube down the throat to burn away damaged tissue.
That's thought to be less invasive for patients and not as likely to cause further injuries.
Atrial Fibrillation is the most common heart rhythm abnormality, bringing shortness of breath, palpitations and tiredness.
