The coastguard has stood down the search for a diver who was reported missing off the coast of Swanage, pending any further information.

Two coastguard helicopters and a fixed-wing aircraft were used for the operation, as well as coastguard rescue teams from Swanage and Poole.

The RNLI sent lifeboats from Swanage, Poole and Yarmouth, with further support from nearby vessels responding to a local broadcast for assistance. Dorset Police were also alerted.

The alarm was raised at about 6pm on Tuesday and the search was stood down at about the same time yesterday.
