Chichester District Council has launched a £200,000 grant scheme to support businesses in Midhurst Town Centre following a major fire at an historic hotel.

The Angel Inn and neighbouring buildings on the A286 North Street caught fire in March – with the road being closed to vehicles ever since.

The council has now set aside funding to help businesses, which have lost footfall as a result.

Independent businesses, such as retail shops, cafes, restaurants and hairdressers, are eligible to apply for up to £1,800 but they must be based in North Street, Rumbolds Hill, West Street, Red Lion Street, Knockhundred Row or Market Square to qualify.
