A family in Portsmouth who are homeless after their house collapsed are being supported by friends who have launched a fundraiser for them.

The terraced home in Langford Road in Buckland was reduced to rubble at about 8.30am on Wednesday.

The community is rallying around to support the family by starting an online appeal on GoFundMe.

Organiser Presley Fairhurst said a close friend and her mum had "lost everything" and "even the smallest of donations would make a massive difference".

She said they had been "inundated with messages of support and offers to help".

Structural engineers are continuing to investigate why the mid terrace house collapsed.

Portsmouth City Council said three neighbouring properties were found to be structurally unsafe and a further two were awaiting structural surveys.

An exclusion zone is currently in place.

A spokesperson said the residents of these properties had been supported with finding alternative accommodation.
