Flat destroyed by fire in Southampton
Three other flats have also been damaged in the blaze
A flat has been destroyed after a fire in Southampton.
Crews were called to tackle the blaze in Portswood Road yesterday morning. (Sunday 15 June)
They included crews from St Mary’s, Hightown, Eastleigh, Redbridge, Fareham, Winchester, Hamble, Cosham and Lyndhurst.
Smoke caused damage to the three remaining flats on the third floor.
No one was injured.
Firefighters worked to protect the contents of the building’s ground, first and second floors.
The gas and electric supply to the building was isolated.
Crews will return later to conduct a reinspection and check for remaining hotspots.
