Firefighters have tackled a large fire which broke out in a field in Calshot.
Crews were called to Stanswood Road around 7pm last night (Friday 4th April), where an area of gorse and crop was alight.
A Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said:
"Crews from Hardley, Hythe, Beaulieu, Eastleigh and Ringwood are currently in attendance at a fire in a field in Calshot.
"Multiple calls have come into the control room to report the fire, with the initial call coming in at just before 7pm.
"Firefighters are using a main jet and two hose reels to tackle the fire which is estimated to be affecting an area of gorse and standing crop of around 400m x 80m.
"People in the area are advised to close doors and windows due to smoke."
The incident comes as fire and rescue services across the country remain alert to potential wildfires sparked by the warm and sunny weather.
People are also being urged to not light barbecues and campfires - and to be aware of the dangers posed by discarded litter and cigarettes.
