Firefighters rescue cow after it got stuck in the mud in the River Itchen

A cow has found out the hard way that the grass isn't always greener on the other side - after getting stuck in the mud trying to cross the River Itchen in Winchester.

Specialist crews from Winchester, Eastleigh and Overton were sent to rescue the fully grown animal from its sticky situation earlier this week.

9 firefighters went into the water at River Park.

They used a specialist winch to lift and remoove the cow to safety.
