Fire at Dorset nature reserve halts ferry and closes main road

A fire at a national nature reserve in Studland, Dorset, has caused significant disruption, stranding ferry passengers and forcing the closure of a main road.
Smoke was seen rising from the area shortly after 4pm today, with images quickly circulating on social media.
Swanage Fire Station confirmed:
“We are currently dealing with an incident on Ferry Road, Studland. The road is currently closed on the Swanage side.”
As a result, the Sandbanks Ferry, which runs between Studland and Poole, has suspended its service.
Emergency crews remain on the scene, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
