Eastleigh's biggest community event is back
Local charities, voluntary groups and community organisations will take part in the community showcase
Eastleigh’s much-loved annual community showcase is returning today (Sunday June 15) with local charities, voluntary groups and community organisations sharing the work they do.
The free event will take place from 11am to 4pm at The Point and Leigh Road Recreation Ground in Eastleigh. It’s organised by Community First in partnership with Dream Empire Events Ltd, and the newly elected Mayor of Eastleigh, Councillor Janice Asman, will be attending.
The day is a great opportunity for local groups to connect with each other, find new volunteers and encourage the public to get involved in their activities and services.
Last year’s event welcomed more than 350 visitors and over 50 organisations, and this year promises to be even bigger and better!
Organisations attending include Eastleigh Community Garden, Youth Options, Autism Hampshire, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, NHS Blood and Transport, Solent Mind and Eastleigh Lions Club.
Jo Proctor, Community Engagement Coordinator at Community First, said: “We’re so pleased to be bringing the community showcase back for another year. Last year’s event was a real success – it gave local groups the chance to raise their profile and show people the amazing work they do.
“It was also brilliant to see so many visitors keen to volunteer, and we’re hoping even more will come along this time to find out how they can get involved and make a difference.”
As well as the community stalls, there’ll be crafts, competitions, ice cream, pony rides and a great range of food concessions. There will also be live performances on The Point’s outdoor stage, featuring local music, dance and martial arts groups, including the Eastleigh Area Schools Orchestra, Pique School of Performing Arts and Blue Butterfly Dance Company.
