Double weather warning in force across the South
Forecasters say strong winds and heavy rain will bring disruption today (Monday 27th)
Stormy weather is bringing the threat of flooding and more disruption to transport across parts of the South, following a wet and windy weekend.
Two yellow weather warnings are in place for strong winds and heavy rain across Dorset, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and West Sussex until tomorrow morning (Tuesday 28th).
The first, for wind, is in force until 6am on Tuesday, with the Met Office warning gusts of up to 60 or 70 mph may bring disruption, with delays to travel and a risk of power cuts.
The second, for heavy blustery showers and possible thunderstorms, lasts until 10am tomorrow, leading to the heightened risk of flooding, issues with driving and possible interruption to power supplies.
Met Office meteorologist Marco Petagna said:
"Things are going to stay unsettled in the next few days. We're getting successive spells of wet and windy weather, which is obviously adding to impacts."
While not as powerful as Storm Eowyn, a low-pressure system was named Storm Herminia by meteorologists in Spain which was expected to feel the strongest winds.
