Date set for resurfacing concrete section of M27
It'll soon be quieter for people living in Hedge End, West End, Fair Oak, and Eastleigh
It's been confirmed work on the noisy concrete section of the M27 will start in the autumn.
It's going to cost ÂŁ80m to resurface the stretch between junctions 5 for Eastleigh and 7 for Hedge End.
It'll take around 18 months to complete.
Eastleigh MP Paul Holmes has long campaigned for the work to be carried out.
He said: "It was great to welcome Roads Minister, Richard Holden, to Eastleigh to discuss the ÂŁ80 million M27 resurfacing project.
"The Minister and I discussed this important investment, which will reduce noise in Hedge End, West End, Fair Oak, and Eastleigh.
"This is a project I have been campaigning on ever since I was elected, and I am pleased that the final works will be going ahead in the Autumn to finally deliver on this promise.
"I am incredibly grateful to all those who have supported this campaign including the Minister, West End County Councillor, Steve Broomfield, and Jerry Hall."
