Adams proud to leave Saints with 'head held high' after Torino move
The striker's contract at St Mary's expired after last season
Che Adams says he's proud to leave Southampton with his "head held high" after his departure from the Premier League club was confirmed.
The 28-year-old striker has joined Italian side Torino on a three-year-deal, after his contract at St Mary's expired at the end of last season.
Adams joined the Saints in 2019, and scored 49 goals in 191 appearances.
That includes 16 goals in the Championship last season as the club won promotion back to the top flight.
Writing on his Instagram page, Adams said:
"Thank you, Southampton Football club. I’m so grateful for the last 5 years.
"Southampton became home to me and my family, and we were surrounded by some amazing people & players.
"Thank you to everyone, from the backroom staff, to the kitchen staff, to the coaches, for all your support & guidance since I stepped into Staplewood in 2019.
"I’m proud to be leaving with my head held high, getting this club back to where it belongs. We made you fans a promise, and it gives me such pride we delivered.
"Thank you for all the support, you’ve followed us home & away in incredible numbers, and it meant so much.
"Wishing you all the best for the future!
"Che 🤍"
The Saints responded, posting "Wishing you the very best, @cheadams_ ❤️"
Southampton begin their Premier League campaign away at Newcastle United on Saturday 17 August.
Their first game at St Mary's will be against Nottingham Forest on Saturday 24 August.
