Bursledon man charged with attempted murder after double stabbing

Three people injured in a disturbance off Hamble Lane

A 62-year-old man from Bursledon has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of assault causing ABH following a disturbance involving multiple injuries.

David James Weir, of Cedar Close, appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court on Monday (12th January) and was remanded in custody. He is due to return to the same court later this week.

Stabbing incident

The charges stem from reports of a domestic-related assault shortly before 3am on Sunday (11th January) at an address off Hamble Lane.

A woman in her 20s from the New Forest was taken to hospital with stab wounds to her chest and arm.

A man in his 20s, also from Bursledon, was hospitalised with stab wounds to his head and arm.

Both are receiving medical treatment, with their injuries not currently considered life threatening or life changing. The woman remains in hospital at this time.

A third person, a woman in her 50s from Bursledon, sustained minor injuries and was treated accordingly.
