The family of a Dorset man reportedly detained by the Taliban in Afghanistan is calling for him to be released.

Grant Bailey from Portland was working for a non-governmental organisation before he disappeared.

Mr Bailey is said to have returned to Afghanistan in September, despite Kabul falling to the Taliban in August.

His brother Robin told The Sun newspaper 'It was the biggest shock. I’ve been trying to find out as much as I can to try to help get him back.

"The whole family just wants him to be OK."

He was apparently due to fly home.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are aware of the detention of a British national in Afghanistan and have been touch with their family to support them."
