A 12-year-old boy is among four people arrested in a crackdown on drugs and weapons on the streets of Southampton.

Knives, cannabis and cash were seized after police stopped a car in Staplehurst Close in Weston at 12.30pm on Thursday.

Police said officers found a large knife and a black rucksack containing another knife, a mobile phone, a quantity of cannabis and a wallet containing £200 in cash.

A 12-year-old boy from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife in a public place and possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.

He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue, police said.

A 20-year-old man from Southampton, a 19-year-old man from Bursledon and a 20-year-old man were also arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife and possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.

They have been bailed with conditions until 5 May while enquiries continue.
