Body found in search for Isle of Wight missing teenager

Formal identification is yet to take place for the body

Police officers searching for a teenager who went missing on Binstead beach have found a body.

Hampshire Police had appealed to the public to help locate 18-year-old Chris Koppany from Ryde after he went missing on Wednesday (August 22nd).

The teenager had last been seen on the beach in the early hours of Wednesday evening, leaving his family concerned for his welfare.

Officers went on to confirm on Saturday evening (August 24th) that the body of a man had been discovered.

The force added that formal identification was yet to take place, but Chris' family had been informed of the update in their investigations.

As well as this, a file for the deceased person has been prepared for the coroner that will help to inform in diagnosing the cause of death.

Officers thanked the public and the media for getting in touch and sharing their appeal, and urged the public for privacy and respect as the investigations continue.
