Food-filled Bank Holiday weekend fun in Southampton
The Big Eat is back to celebrate the best of local street food
The Big Eat is back for its fourth annual festival celebrating the best of local street food - and it is happening in Southampton this weekend
The event is bringing three days of food and free family fun to Royal Victoria Country Park, Netley.
The free-to-attend festival has become one of the South’s most anticipated foodie events, all in support of Hound Basics Food Bank. Last year, the event fed 28,000 guests and raised £5,000 for the food bank. This year, organisers aim to go even bigger with donations to support local families in need.
The Big Eat promises to deliver a weekend of unforgettable fun.
The event is perfect for all ages, and will feature two live music stages, a dog show and even a silent disco.
Master Chef UK 2023 Winner Chariya Khattiyot will be officially opening the festival, and attending the festival every day. Meanwhile, Great British Bake Off 2024 Finalist Christiaan de Vries will be at The Big Eat on Monday, fundraising by selling homemade brûlée lemon bars!
This year’s event is shaping up to be bigger than ever thanks to sponsorship from Snows Toyota, which has eleven motor dealerships across Hampshire, Dorset, West Sussex and Devon.
Festival founder Jeremy Gaskin said:
“We are thrilled to bring The Big Eat back to our community for its fourth year.
"Whether you're a foodie, a music lover, or simply looking for free, family-friendly bank holiday plans, our festival has something for everyone!
"We're grateful for the tremendous support from our headline sponsor, Snows Toyota. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need.”
The Big Eat is taking place Saturday 24th to Monday 26th May. Festival hours are:
Saturday & Sunday: 10am - 8pm
Monday (Bank Holiday): 10am - 6pm
