Hampshire Police investigating after 12-year-old sexually assaulted
A 42-year-old man from Gosport has been arrested following enquiries
Hampshire Police are appealing for information after a 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in a park.
Officers were alerted to an incident taking place in Alver Valley Country Park in Lee-on-the-Solent just after 12:30pm last Sunday (November 3rd).
During the attack, the child was approached by a man that she did not know, and he eventually placed his hands on her arm and waist.
Taking place in the wooded area of the park, she was able to push him away and ran to a safe location - where she reported the crime.
Giving extra detail, the force said the incident took place close to the main car park, next to a blue pole with a yellow sign.
Investigations were launched following the incident and following lines of enquiry, police arrested a 42-year-old man from Gosport on suspicion of sexual assault on a female under 13.
Police have now opened the investigation to the public, in the hope they may have seen anything suspicious, due to the popularity of the park with local dog walkers.
Officers described the man as being white, around 5ft 8ins tall, of skinny build with a scruffy beard and shoulder length hair which is brown with some grey. He was wearing a light red jacket/fleece and grey trousers.
Those who may recognise the man can get in touch with the police by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 44240479687.
