12-year-old boy assaulted in Gosport

Police are looking for a man involved in the attack

Police are appealing for information after a 12-year-old boy was assaulted in Gosport.

The youngster is reported to have been walking home when the attack happened in Rowner Lane at around 6.30pm on Tuesday.

He was grabbed on the shoulders from behind by a man he didn't know in an area of garages opposite the Masten Crescent.

The man did not say anything as he grabbed the boy, and the boy punched the man in the stomach to get away before running off towards home.

Police say the youngster had purchase a drink from the Best One convenience store in Rowner Lane shortly before the incident.

The man has been described as white, aged 20-30, around 5ft 10in tall and of medium build, with a large shaggy brown beard and deep voice. He was wearing a grey long-sleeved fleece and black baggy board shorts at the time and potentially has a tattoo on his right forearm or hand.

Anyone who know the man, has seen him in the area or has further information about the incident is asked to contact Hampshire Police on 101 or online, quoting 44240335883.
