Yeovil Town FC's chairman Martin Hellier says it's 'amazing' to have women's football back - with the future of the Green and Whites confirmed for the new season.
He's called it 'really exciting' to support the game in the modern era and has affirmed an exciting future for the Green and Whites and says he want to fully support the sport - and bring back some silverware too.
Chairman Martin Hellier said, “It is amazing to have women’s football back at Yeovil Town and this time united as “one club”.
“It is really exciting to fully support women’s football in this modern era. With England’s Lionesses breaking world records and bringing home silverware, be under no illusion, I’m going to make sure that Yeovil Town Women’s Football Club has the opportunity to do exactly the same.
“The progress already made in such a short time frame is fantastic. To be in a position to be entering new girl’s teams, as young as seven, into the local leagues, and the older girls into the Junior Premier League, is a testament to the hard work done by all. We are also proud to be working with Yeovil College to start a girls Elite Player Development Programme, which you may have already seen advertised by the Club & College.
“It’s looking really positive for our Women’s teams, with a high calibre of football on offer. I will be in the stands cheering you on when you play selected matches at Huish Park.
“Let’s aim high, let’s be ambitious, I want both Yeovil Town Men’s and Women’s teams striving for success and giving you, the fans, teams you can cheer on to success. One Club, Achieving by Unity.”
Those who want to take part in the trials for the Women's First Team can visit the Yeovil Town FC website to sign-up.
The final set of trials starts on Friday (9 June) at 7pm.
