Witness appeal as detectives investigate suspected serious sexual assault in Warminster

Detectives are investigating a suspected serious sexual assault in Warminster.

Wiltshire Police were called to the Market Place in Warminster at around 8.15am this morning after a distressed woman was found by a member of the public.

Officers believe she was the victim of a serious sexual assault which happened overnight.

They are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Darren Hannant, from Wiltshire Police, said:

“We currently have officers in attendance in the Market Place and an investigation is underway.

“At this stage we are unsure when the incident took place but it was at some time during the night; the police were called shortly after 8am this morning.

“We want to hear from anyone who was in the town last night or during the early hours of this morning and may have noticed anything suspicious.

“If you have any information which could assist our enquiries, then please get in touch.”

The victim is currently being supported.
