Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses after an alleged assault in Taunton.

The force claim a group of 20-30 people were involved in the altercation on the 19th October.

Police say they attended reports of an incident in the courtyard of the Orchard Centre where officers found a man had suffered fractured ribs and a broken hand.

The victim, aged in his 60s, was taken to hospital and has since returned home.

The force claim the group then went on to throw chairs and signs at the Little Italy restaurant, breaking a window.

Extra patrols have been carried out since the incident and officers have been conducting CCTV enquiries in the area.
