Witness appeal after dog attack in Yeovil
Avon and Somerset Police say the incident happened on September 1
A man is recovering after a dog attack in Yeovil.
He needed hospital treatment after suffering cuts and bruises in the incident in the White Mead area earlier this month.
Police say it started after a Rottweiler or similar breed attacked a smaller dog after it's owner lost control of the lead.
In a statement, a spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police said: “We are seeking witnesses after a man sustained injuries during a dog attack in Yeovil a couple of weeks ago.
“The victim was walking a pug in the White Mead area, towards Tewkesbury, at about 5.30pm on Friday 1 September, when he saw a blonde female walking towards him with another dog, which is believed to have been a Rottweiler or a similar breed of dog.
“The victim told officers the woman lost control of the lead and the larger dog attacked the pug and the pair tried to separate the dogs.
“In trying to do so, the man was wounded and sustained cuts and bruises, requiring treatment at Yeovil District Hospital. The pug also required veterinary treatment. Both are making a good recovery.
“The man was spoken to by officers over the weekend and said he had been left shaken by the incident. House-to-house enquiries have been carried out and enquiries are ongoing.
