Casualty trapped in Wellington collision

Emergency services responded to a serious road traffic collision in Bradford-on-Tone, involving a small vehicle and a person reported to be trapped inside.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:47am this morning (16 October), with Fire Control receiving the emergency call from Wellington.

Fire crews from Taunton and Wellington stations were quickly mobilised to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters made the vehicle safe and used hydraulic power tools and small tools to extricate the casualty.

The operation was completed successfully, and the individual was removed from the vehicle.

The incident was officially handed over to the police, and the scene was closed off to the public for a short time while emergency crews completed their work.

A spokesperson from Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called at 6.46am today (16 October) to a report that a car had overturned on the A38 near Bradford-on-Tone.

“Emergency services attended and closed the road between the junction with Silver Street and Sheppy's Cider Farm.

“The driver of the car was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

“The road remains closed while debris is cleared from the road.”
