A meeting this morning today heard infection rates are falling in the cluster in Minehead following intervention.

Trudi Grant said while clusters are being dealt with, other areas are seeing them popping up and needing attention.

Somerset has the second lowest Coronavirus rates behind Cornwall and has seen no Covid deaths in the latest seven day figures.

The meeting also heard Somerset remains an early pilot site for enhanced contact tracing - and a regional lead to support the national test and trace system.

It sees local officials trying to contact those who the national service have failed to identify.

The meeting heard that sometimes people are more likely to answer the phone to a local number and has been described as having a 'good degree of success' of 90%.

It also has provided enhanced local data and intelligence on coronavirus spreads which has fed into local response measures.

The meeting heard the success of the local track and trace effort has been fed back to Government and regional council networks.
