Police are investigating a transphobic hate crime that happened in Bridgwater last year.

A man said transphobic comments to a woman and attempted to assault her at the Cornhill Pub on 5 November.

Avon and Somerset Police said the victim was “left shaken” by the encounter but not injured.

They have released an image of a man they want to identify in relation to the hate crime and are appealing for information.

Police are looking to identify this man in relation to the crime

Investigating officer PC Liam Frampton said: “We are treating this incident as a hate crime.

“The language and behaviour the victim was subjected to was vile and we’re ensuring they have access to support.

“We want to speak to anyone who recognises the man in the image or has any other information which could help our inquiry.”
