Temporary Minehead Library to close after October half-term
The temporary library and registration service will continue to operate normally until then
The temporary Minehead Library, located at the Old Hospital building, will close after October half-term as it was deemed unsuitable for continued operation during the winter period.
Somerset County Council has decided to close down the temporary library at this location at 1pm on Saturday 30th October.
The temporary library and registration service will continue to operate normally until then.
Library loans will be renewed until the library re-opens (and no charges will be applied).
Councillor Mandy Chilcott said: "This decision has not been taken lightly. Unfortunately closing the library at the Old Hospital building is necessary as we head into the winter months. We would like to thank our service users for their understanding and apologise for any inconvenience caused."
Following the start of works to refurbish Minehead Library in March, the Council temporarily relocated the library and registration services.
The ageing building is set to be transformed into a modern flexible space for the local community.
The Council is now working on plans to re-open the library and registration services at an alternative temporary location early in the new year. Details will be shared as soon as possible.
